ThoughtWorks Studios Joins the Prestigious Group of Organizations Approved by Project Management Institute
San Francisco – February 10, 2012 ThoughtWorks Studios today announced it is now approved by Project Management Institute to become a PMI Registered Education Provider (R.E.P.) effective immediately. ThoughtWorks Studios is the product and training division of ThoughtWorks, Inc., a global IT consultancy focused on enterprise Agile software development.
PMI R.E.P.s are educational organizations that have demonstrated that they are capable of providing world-class effective project management training. Through PMI’s rigorous quality criteria for course content, instructor qualification, and instructional design, R.E.P.s provide the project management training necessary to earn and to maintain Project Management Professional (PMP), Program Management Professional (PgMP) and other PMI professional credentials.
ThoughtWorks Studios offers a comprehensive training curriculum in Agile management and development practices, helping project and program managers understand and embrace Agile best practices throughout every aspect of the software delivery cycle.
With the new R.E.P. designation, attendees of ThoughtWorks Studios’ Agile Project Management workshop can receive professional development units (PDUs). ThoughtWorks plans to extend its offering to include other courses and curricula focused on Continuous Delivery, Continuous Design, and other topics; providing educational content to support all stages of Agile maturity and software development best practices supporting all the stages of the software development lifecycle.
“Building on our experience with thousands of Agile development projects, our training and workshops help organizations develop deep insight into the practices, dynamics and day-to-day team interactions that are key to successful software development,” says Adam Monago, vice-president of sales for ThoughtWorks Studios. “We are honored to be among the world’s leading organizations designated as a PMI R.E.P.”
“PMI’s recent survey of training providers shows that 80 percent of organizations seeking suppliers of project management training strongly prefer to work with PMI R.E.P.s. They view their affiliation with PMI, as the leading standard-setting professional association for project management, as a stamp of quality on the training services they purchase,” said Edwin Andrews, Ph.D., director of academic and educational programs and services at PMI. “Organizations want to protect their investment in project management training, and they know that a PMI R.E.P. delivers such training in a cost-effective and efficient manner.”
