Thoughtworks Studios Releases Mingle 3.1 With Improved Collaboration and Reporting for Agile ALM

New collaboration, reporting and usability features help improve distributed team efficiency and speed time-to-release

SAN FRANCISCO, April 14, 2010 — ThoughtWorks Studios, the products division of ThoughtWorks and the global leader in Agile ALM, today announced the availability of Mingle 3.1, its Agile project management solution. New features in Mingle 3.1 help software development organizations improve distributed team collaboration, reporting and end-user productivity through a series of user-driven product enhancements.

“Many of the new features within Mingle 3.1 are the result of input from our customer community that is passionate about software excellence,” said Chad Wathington, vice president of product development for ThoughtWorks Studios. “This latest version of Mingle builds upon our commitment to help customers drive efficiency, visibility and speed the time-to-market of high-quality software.”

Mingle is the project management component of ThoughtWorks’ Adaptive ALM suite. Together with Twist (automated testing) and Cruise (continuous integration and release management), it creates the industry’s only holistic, fully integrated Agile ALM solution designed exclusively to support the hybrid nature of Agile process while supporting both the management and engineering practices. It forms a flexible and adaptive platform to manage the entire software development and delivery lifecycle – from requirements definition and portfolio management to test automation, quality assurance and release management. Adaptive ALM also includes world-class training through the ThoughtWorks Agile Workshops, a series of in-depth training sessions based on ThoughtWorks’ decade-long experience delivering software development results to its global customer base.

New features in Mingle 3.1 include:

  • Improved Collaboration – new features to the “Murmurs™” collaboration platform within Mingle extend the ability to capture unstructured information from card-specific comments up to the project level. In addition, new traceability features allow users to quickly track “murmurs” back to originating cards, and global search capabilities provide Murmurs- and project-based searches across all content compiled within Murmurs.
  • New Reporting Functions – for better tracking and visibility at the card level Mingle now includes new “THIS CARD” reporting. This helps users access values of a card’s properties for reporting and allows high-value reports to be created at a very detailed level.
  • Enhanced Usability – a variety of new usability enhancements are included in Mingle 3.1. Based on input from end-users, these features provide added flexibility when customizing the user interface, allow for the add and delete of personal “favorites” of Mingle views, and offers improved history filtering and notification alerts based on multiple changes within the workflow.
