Completing the Mingle configuration wizard
This section follows on after you've set up a database, and then downloaded and installed Mingle.
The last step of the installation process described how to open a web browser and navigate to the Mingle configuration wizard.
Note: If you want Mingle to be able to send emails, you will need to know the details of an existing SMTP (outbound email) server. If you don't have these details, please contact your organization's email server administrator.
- Click the Get started >> button.
Mingle displays the Connect Mingle to your database page.
Note that if you have already configured a database for use with Mingle (e.g. if you're upgrading or re-installing), the configuration wizard may skip this step.

- From the Database menu, select either MySQL or PostgreSQL.
- Type the Database host name (or the address of your database server).
By default this is set up to run on the installation server, i.e. localhost. - If you want to run Mingle on a database port other than the default set up for MySQL or PostgreSQL, update the Port number here.
- In the Database name field, type mingle.
Or the name of the database you created for use with Mingle. - Type the Database username.
By default this is root as you will most likely be the database administrator. - If you set up a Database password, type it here.
- Click the Test connection and continue >> button.
Mingle checks the database credentials you entered, and if correct displays the Set up the database page.
If the connection test failed, check to ensure you entered the correct username, password, and database name. Also ensure that the MySQL or PostgreSQL database server is running.

- Click the Set up database >> button.
Mingle finishes setting up the database and displays the Configure the SMTP connection page. If installing an updated version of Mingle, the configuration wizard may skip this step.

- Complete details for the SMTP (outbound email) server. For details of the values to enter here, please contact your organization's email server administrator.
- Type or update the SMTP server Address.
- Type or update the SMTP server Port number.
By default this is 25 (the standard port for SMTP). - Type or update the SMTP Domain.
- If your organization's SMTP server has a User name and Password set up, type them here.
- Type (or update) the Mingle host name and Mingle port number.
This is the host name and port through which users access Mingle via their web browser (it is not the database host and port configured in Step 1). Mingle uses these details for URLs (web addresses) in system emails. If this isn't configured correctly, the URLs in emails from Mingle will not work. - Type the email Sender address from which you want Mingle to send emails (this will also become the Reply To address).
- Type the Sender name from whom you want Mingle to send emails.
- Click the Continue >> link.
Mingle displays the Reviewing the ThoughtWorks End User License Agreement page.

- Read through the license terms, select the Accept license as above checkbox and click the Continue having accepted the license >> button.
Mingle displays the Set up the first user account page.
- Complete all of your details on this page, ensuring that you follow each of the instructions next to the field names.

- Click the Set up this account >> button.
Mingle displays the Import project templates page.

- Click the Import templates to finish >> button.
Mingle imports several templates from which you can quickly create new projects.
Mingle displays the Current projects page.

Now that you're up and running in Mingle, you'll need to set up your first project. See Customizing projects to get started!
