Murmurs

What is Murmurs?

Murmurs is a new feature introduced in Mingle 3.0. Murmurs are Mingle's way of capturing unstructured project information, that is already being shared between team members via external tools, inside Mingle. It is a way for team members to collaborate and share project data that doesn't necessarily conveniently or easily fit into the current card and page concepts in Mingle but is relevant project information. In Mingle 3.0 users can "Murmur" messages to the project from inside Mingle, via a new tab called "Murmurs" and using an external Jabber chat room using an external chat client. These "Murmurs" will be captured in Mingle so that knowledge and information about the project is shared in a common space.

Murmurs in use

Users can Murmur from Mingle using the new Murmurs tab. All projects are, by default, configured to have Murmurs enabled. This means that each new project created will have a Murmurs tab and the Murmurs capability enabled unless it is specifically turned off. If required Project and Mingle admins may also enable Murmurs to use an external Jabber chat room which means that users will also be able to Murmur via an external chat client. To set-up the external Murmurs please see Administering project Murmurs settings.

Templates do not have Murmurs functionality.

Murmurs card links

Like other areas in Mingle (such as source revisions), Murmurs content renders card and wiki page links so that Murmurs provide links to other information stored in Mingle. These card links work by using the existing project card keywords.

In addition to providing links to other cards and pages, Murmurs that are associated with a card are also displayed on the card in the Comments/Murmurs section of the card.
