Using Murmurs
Viewing murmurs in Mingle
All project murmurs (either entered on the Murmurs tab, on a card via comments or entered via the external chat room client) can be viewed via the Murmurs tab. Murmurs are shown with the latest murmur first and 25 murmurs are shown on each page. Older murmurs can be seen by using the page navigation on the Murmurs tab.
Searching murmurs in Mingle
Mingle provides search functionality on the Murmurs tab so that you can easily find any murmurs you are interested in. Enter a search keyword in the search box provided in the sidebar on the Murmurs tab. Any murmurs containing your search keyword in their contents will be returned.
For instance, if you enter the search keyword 'Jeff', as in the screenshot below, all murmurs made by user(s) with the name 'Jeff' and any murmurs that contain the word 'Jeff' in their content will be returned.

Murmurs will also be shown in the global search results.
If you upgrade from Mingle 3.0, you will need to rebuild your search index in order to search for murmurs created prior to the Mingle 3.1 release. To do this, you will need to click on the 'Rebuild search index' button on the 'Advanced project admin' page, which can be found under the 'Project admin' tab.
Posting murmurs in Mingle
How and where to post a murmur in Mingle
There are various ways you can post murmurs in Mingle. Any users can view all the murmurs but only full team members or Mingle/project administrators can post murmurs.
- On the Murmurs tab, you can simply enter the murmur content in the text box and click the 'Murmur this' button or hit the 'enter' key.

- On the 'Comments/Murmurs' section on cards, when you enter your comment content, if you select the 'Murmur this comment' checkbox Mingle will create a murmur which is exactly the same as your comment. This murmur will behave like murmurs that are made from the Murmurs tab. This murmur will appear on the Murmurs tab, will be posted to any linked chat room and will be shown on any cards this murmur is associated with. The comment will also be shown on the card where the comment/murmur was made. When the murmur is displayed on the murmurs tab or posted to the chat room Mingle will indicate where the murmur was made from by displaying the card number of the originating card.

- On the transition light box, when you enter your comment content, if you select the 'Murmur this comment' checkbox Mingle will create a murmur which is exactly the same as your comment.

- If your team already uses a chat client to discuss requirements, tests or development you either connect your projects Murmurs to your existing chat room and capture your chat in Mingle or create a new chat room via Mingle and capture your chat there.
- If you team posts announcements to each other via email, try using Murmurs to make these announcements.
- If you need to tell your team when you will be back in the office, why not murmur it to so everyone on the team sees it.
- If you created a great new wiki page, murmur the name and the tab will automatically link to the page so that everyone can go directly to the information they want.
- If you have finished a story and want to tell the team, murmur a card number with your update and the team will easily be able to see your update and the information about the story.
