Creating and formatting content
Introduction
With the introduction of a rich text "WYSIWYG" editor in Mingle 13.2, it is now much easier to create and format content in cards and pages. None of our previous wiki mark-up is required to create or format content. What you see is now what you get. However, we have maintained the ability to create links to other resources, including cards, attachments and pages in your and other Mingle projects. Learn more about linking.
After you create a card or page, you can open it to add and format content (including graphs, charts and tables, which you can create using Mingle macros) by clicking on the "Edit" button.
To save or cancel your changes, respectively click the Save or Cancel button. (There is no preview button since Mingle has a WYSIWYG editor.)
- All project team members (with full user permissions) can edit or format any card or page in their project.
- Mingle will always return the latest version of the card or page content when you open to edit. Whenever you edit a card or page, Mingle keeps a full history of changes, which you can see on the main History tab and also from within each card's and page's individual history component. Learn more about card versions and history as well as page versions and history.
Text, Images, Tables, Links, Attachments, Macros
Bold text
To bold text, select the text and click the B icon on the editing toolbar. You can also use the keyboard shortcut CTRL + B.

Italicize text
To italicize text, select the text and click the I icon on the editing toolbar. You can also use the keyboard shortcut CTRL + I.

Underline text
To underline text, select the text and click the U icon on the editing toolbar. You can also use the keyboard shortcut CTRL + U.

Strikethrough text
To strikethrough text, select the text and click the -S- icon on the editing toolbar. (N.B. Mingle does not support a keyboard shortcut for strikethrough.)

Color text
To change the color of text from its default charcoal grey, select the text and click on the A icon on the editing toolbar.

Inline images
To insert images inline, click the image icon on the editing toolbar and select an image from your local filesource.
- When you save your card, the image will also appear as a card attachment. Deleting the image attachment will not delete it from your card content. Similarly, deleting the inline image will not remove the attachment. To remove the image inline, you must delete it from the card description itself and to remove the attachment, you must delete the attachment.
- Mingle does not currently support inserting an image via drag and drop or copy and paste.
Tables
To create a table inline, click the table icon on the editing toolbar and define your table's characteristics (number of rows, columns, etc.) in the table properties window.
To insert the table in your card description, just click okay and the table will appear inline. And to edit your table (e.g. add or remove a row or column), just right click to view a table editing menu and select your action of choice.

Paragraph format
To format text as normal, code block or one of the three Mingle headers, select the Paragraph Format drop-down menu in the editing toolbar. (N.B. The default format for cards is normal.)

Layouts
You can use one or two column layout blocks to organize information in a page or card. In Mingle this kind of layout is often referred to as a dashboard. You can take a look at this example project overview page to see how that might look with some charts and tables included.
Single-column layout
You can create a single column layout that spans a card or page and encloses other content by clicking on the respective icon in the editing toolbar:

Just click inside the column panel to edit the name and add content, including graphs, charts and tables. However, please note that nesting layout blocks is not recommended.
Double-column layout
On both cards and pages, you can create a double column layout with two columns of equal width that enclose other content by clicking on the respective icon in the editing toolbar:

Just click inside the column panel to edit the name and add content, including graphs, charts and tables. However, please note that nesting layout blocks is not recommended.
Mixed column layout
This is an example of using both one-column and two-column layout blocks in the same page:
To create a mixed column layout, simply click on the single column or double column icon tool as many times and in whatever order you want to create your desired card or page layout.
Create bulleted list
To create a single bullet or a bulleted list, select the line(s) of text you want to bullet and click on the bullet icon on the editing toolbar. To remove the bullet format, simply highlight the desired text and click the bullet icon again.

Create numbered list
To create a single number or a numbered list, select the line(s) of text you want to number and click on the number icon on the editing toolbar. To remove the numbered format, simply highlight the desired text and click the number icon again.

Right indent text
To right indent text, select the text to be indented and click on the Increase Indent icon on the editing toolbar as many times as you want the text to be indented (each click adds a level of indentation rightwards). This tool applies to bulleted and numbered lists as well.

Left indent text (outdent)
To left indent (outdent) text, select the text to be indented and click on the Decrease Indent icon on the editing toolbar as many times as you want the text to be outdented (each click adds a level of indentation leftwards/outwards). This tool applies to bulleted and numbered lists as well.

Inline links
With Mingle's new WYSIWYG editor, you can insert external links as well as create internal Mingle links.
Insert external links inline
To link text to an external site, highlight the desired text and click on the link icon on the editing toolbar. Then insert the site's URL into the link widget window and press OK. The text will turn blue to indicate an external link and will be accessible in both "Save" and "Edit" modes.
To edit the external link, either right click or double click the linked text.
Create internal Mingle links inline
Use the following mark-up to create links to cards, attachments, and pages in your and other Mingle projects on your instance. You can also create unique Mingle links with card keywords.

To remove an attachment, click the "x" next to the attachment name at the bottom of the card or page.
Please note:

- You can also add and remove attachments on cards and pages using the Mingle API.
- You can delete attachments in both "Save" and "Edit" mode.
Macros
Mingle macros allow you to create charts, tables and graphs using data from your Mingle database. You can either 1) hand-type the macro by clicking the orange Mingle icon on the editing toolbar or 2) insert one using Mingle's Macro Builder.
