Relationship properties
Introduction
There are two types of relationship properties; Card Relationship Property and Tree Relationship Property. Relationship properties are used to associate one card to another.
Card relationship properties
The card relationship properties allow users to create a link between any cards. It's not limited to any specific card type so user can link a story to another story, bug or task. One thing to note here is that card relationship properties do not require to create a tree - unlike tree relationship properties.
Please refer to the screenshot below. It shows that the current card has a dependency on ('Depend on' which is a card relationship property) another story, 'Story 1'.

Tree relationship properties
The tree relationship properties in a child card can reference its ancestors in a card tree. This type of property is created and named as part of configuring a card tree, and they appear on cards visually grouped under the name of the card tree they belong to.
Please refer to the screenshot below. You can easily notice that the current card belongs to Iteration 1 of Release 2.

- Tree relationship properties cannot be marked as transition only.
- Users can navigate to the value of a card or tree relationship property using the icon next to the value on the card view. Clicking this icon will allow you to easily navigate to a card which is assigned as the value of a relationship property.
Assigning a value to relationship properties
- In a card tree view - when you add a card to a tree by dragging it onto an existing parent card, the proper tree relationship properties are set automatically. You can also drag a child card from one parent to another and the appropriate tree relationship properties will be modified to refer to the new parent.
- From a card default - you can assign a specific card to card relationship properties or tree relationship properties from card defaults. Then when this type of card is created, new card will be obtain the assigned value.
- On a card view - you can manually set card relationship property or tree relationship property from the card view by clicking on it and selecting a new card reference from the displayed list.
- For card relationship properties, entire cards that exist on current project will be available as a possible option.
- For tree relationship properties, only cards of the appropriate type that are already in tree will appear as available values on filters (including history filters). Otherwise, any cards of the appropriate type will be available. Learn more about card selection widget.
- On card list or card grid view - you can bulk update card relationship properties or tree relationship properties. If different types of multiple cards are selected, only common properties will be listed on bulk edit action bar.
Removing a relationship property
Card relationship properties
You can delete card relationship properties from the card properties management page. When you click on 'delete' link, user will be taken to a warning page and get informed about the consequences of deleting a card relationship property.
Tree relationship properties
The tree relationship properties for a card tree will be deleted from all cards if the tree itself is deleted. Likewise, if a card is removed from a tree, these properties will be removed from that card.
